Description:
This project aims to improve the health status of women, men, girls and boys in Benin, particularly in its northern departments. Project activities include: (1) Training health care providers (in facilities and community based) on SRHR, GBV, gender equality, one health and community performance cards; (2) establishing and supporting community solidarity mechanisms, including women village savings and loan associations, to increase vulnerable people, especially women and girls, access to health care; (3) piloting a decentralized training and simulation centre in different health centers; (4) Providing technical support to partner universities to develop e-learning modules; (5) Providing technical support and training to Government of Benin on equality, diversity and inclusion as well as gender equality and environment. The main project beneficiaries would be 128,766 direct beneficiaries (66,066 women and 62,700 men) and 2,901,118 indirect beneficiaries.

Expected Results:

The expected results for this project include : (1) increased equitable access of populations to quality health services offered by trained community health relays, particularly in northern departments; (2) improved quality of primary health services, including sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR), offered by public health providers who respect the rights of women and girls and who take into account the environment, particularly in the northern departments; (3) strengthened governance in the planning, training, and management of human resources in the health system, taking into account gender equality and the environment.
