Description:
This project aims to improve the protection and sustainable use of the marine natural resources of the Eastern Tropical Pacific Ocean (ETPO) ecosystems by the Marine Law Enforcement (MLE) community, as well as local communities, specifically women, Indigenous Peoples, and Afro-descendants in Colombia, Costa Rica, Ecuador, Mexico, Panama, and Peru. This will be achieved by strengthening the surveillance and control capacity of national marine authorities and by improving the sustainable use of marine resources by the coastal communities.

Expected Results:

The expected results of this project include: 1) increased effectiveness of maritime law enforcement, including the National Navy, the Coast Guard, fisheries agencies, and park rangers, as well as government-endorsed community groups to detect and combat Illegal, Unreported, and Unregulated Fishing; and 2) increasing the role of women in the protection and sustainable use of marine resources in the target countries.
