Description:
This project strengthens education systems and infrastructure, and improves access to basic education under the Education Cannot Wait’s 2022 to 2024 Multi-year Resilience Programme for Bangladesh. The project aims to improve access to quality, safe, and inclusive learning opportunities for girls and boys aged three to 18 in Rohingya refugee camps and host communities in Cox’s Bazar district. Also, this project seeks to strengthen the education system and infrastructure to help reach more than 350,000 refugee children and youth. This includes children and adolescents without access to education, and out-of-school children and youth in the host communities impacted by the refugee influx and the pandemic. Project activities include: (1) improving access to safe and protective educational opportunities for girls and boys; (2) increasing the number of safe, accessible, and inclusive learning centers, catch-up classes, and alternative learning approaches. It seeks this through facilitated access to required learning and teaching materials, an expanded pool of qualified teachers, and enhanced community-level planning, sensitization, and involvement; (3) enhancing gender and disability-inclusive, safe, and child-friendly teaching and learning environment for girls and boys. It seeks this through improving the capacity for teachers, communities, and key stakeholders of gender equity, inclusion, and child protection; (4) improving the quality of learning for girls and boys through strengthened teaching competencies and supporting a learning environment. This promotes learner well-being while addressing trauma-related impacts and barriers, improving and contextualizing learning materials, including the Myanmar curriculum; and (5) strengthening education systems to provide quality, safe, and equitable education. It does so by improving processes to ensure evidence-based decision-making. This also includes utilizing learner data for systematic analysis and planning, and introducing gender and disability-inclusive school monitoring and reporting.
