Description:
This project aims to improve educational achievement among Indigenous students, especially girls in Alta Verapaz and Quiche departments of Guatemala. Project activities include: 1) offering scholarships, leadership and life skills trainings to Indigenous youth mentors; 2) preparing e-learning resources accessible for students and providing training to teachers and young mentors to integrate them into learning; and 3) providing gender equality workshops and training to teachers, parents, community leaders and students. The project will engage 5584 direct beneficiaries, including at least 5305 indigenous students, primarily female, along with 6707 indirect beneficiaries in partner school communities, for a total of 12 291 beneficiaries. At least 95% of all beneficiaries will be indigenous and at least 60% will be female.

Expected Results:
Expected outcomes of the project are: i) improved academic participation and performance at primary and secondary levels of schooling among Indigenous students, particularly female and ii) improved advocacy among parents, teachers, and community leaders to support the educational achievement of Indigenous students, particularly female.
Project activities include:
• Compilation, creation of translated E-learning resources, and distribution for its use online and offline
• Provision of Leadership training to Indigenous youth mentors
• Facilitation of peer learning circles for students in primary school
• Provision of scholarships for youth mentors
• Provision of training for employability and life skills to Mayan youth mentors
• Facilitation of gender equality workshops for school communities ( school teachers, parents and students)
• Provision of training to teachers on integration of learning technologies into classrooms
• Organisation of community dialogues with parents, teachers, youth, and community members
