Description:
This project seeks to address the critical issue of Gender-Based Violence in Guyana where one in every three women have experienced some form of physical and/or sexual violence. Project activities include: (1) training and awareness raising for youth on issues related to child sexual assault, gender-based violence, sexual reproductive health and rights, mental health, and comprehensive sexuality education; (2) training for community leaders and members on issues related to child sexual assault and gender-based violence; (3) education and training for community leaders and members on reporting protocols and referral systems for gender-based violence; and (4) establishing a community-based men’s action group to support gender-based violence prevention and response efforts. The project will benefit over 400 community members in Guyana’s Region 10 and is implemented by Blossom Inc.

Expected Results:
The expected outcomes of this project include: (1) 60 youths gain knowledge on the prevention of gender-based violence and referral systems; (2) 45 community leaders gain knowledge on the prevention of gender-based violence and know the referral systems; (3) 105 community leaders are educated on and understand the referral protocols and systems; and (4) 1 men’s gender-based violence prevention action group formed to support the prevention of gender-based violence in their communities.
