This project is part of Canada’s Renewed Women Voice and Leadership flagship initiative. It will aim to equip PEKKA Foundation and Pekka union activists with the necessary skills, resources and support to strengthen their ability to effectively advocate for women's rights and drive sustainable social change. This will, in turn, enhance their cohesiveness and sustainability and help them work in a coordinated and collaborative manner, building an active feminist movement for long-term change. By promoting gender equality and empowering women to assert their rights, the project aims to foster an environment where access and control over livelihood and economic resources, social and legal protection and security are no longer sources of inequality, and structural poverty.

Expected intermediary results: (i) Enhanced capacity and sustainability of local and national Pekka Unions to effectively promote gender equality within their respective mandates and communities; (ii) Strengthened programming and advocacy of Pekka Unions to advance gender equality and empower women and girls; (iii) Increased effectiveness of sub-national, national, regional and global women’s rights platforms, networks and alliances to affect policy, legal and social change.
