March 2025 - The International Committee of the Red Cross’ (ICRC) aims to protect the lives and dignity of people affected by armed conflicts and other situations of violence in various countries. This includes people in Burkina Faso, Cameroon, Central African Republic, Chad, Democratic Republic of Congo, Ethiopia, Mali, Mozambique, Niger, Nigeria, Somalia, South Sudan and Sudan. The ICRC assists and works to prevent further suffering by promoting and strengthening international humanitarian law. The ICRC collaborates with local Red Cross and Red Crescent national society staff and volunteers to implement its protection and assistance programmes worldwide.
Canada will also provide rapid and flexible resources via the drawdown fund allocations to enable the ICRC to respond to new and unexpected crisis and reach beneficiaries more efficiently and in a timely manner.
With GAC and other donors’ support, the ICRC’s humanitarian operations aim to provide protection, emergency relief, and other essential services
