Counteracting Transnational Repression and Protecting Civil Society in the Digital Age, aims to increase the safety and security of civil society actors and human rights defenders, with a focus on communities impacted by transnational repression. Over a 24-month period, the project would deliver targeted digital security support through Access Now’s Digital Security Helpline, conduct advocacy to combat transnational repression tactics like surveillance and spyware, and facilitate multi-stakeholder engagement on digital security threats through the RightsCon Summit Series.

Ultimate outcome: Increased safety and security of civil society actors and human rights defenders, with a focus on communities impacted by transnational repression, globally.

Intermediate outcome 1100: Increased effectiveness of human rights defenders, women human rights defenders, and at-risk actors to mitigate and prevent digital security attacks, including those related to transnational repression;

Intermediate outcome 1200: Increased support and international pressure on behalf of human rights defenders, women human rights defenders, and at-risk actors and their digital rights, safety, and security – including against acts of transnational repression; and

Intermediate outcome 1300: Increased multi-stakeholder engagement on pressing issues, such as transnational repression, that affect the safety and security of human rights defenders, women human rights defenders, and at-risk actors.
