Description:
This project aims to increase access to justice and strengthen the judiciary in Ecuador, through a gender-sensitive and intersectional perspective and with particular attention to the challenges and experiences of women and girls who have experienced gender-based violence. Project activities include: (1) training and capacity-building for judges, lawyers, and other justice system operators; (2) optimizing rules, procedures, and across the different entities and operating environments of the Ecuadorian justice system; (3) equipping judicial operators with modernized tools and resources; and (4) expanding public access to information and supporting citizen input, oversight, and participation in the Ecuadorian justice system.

Expected Results:

The expected outcomes of this project include: (1) strategically improved judicial services in their quality, timeliness and impartiality for the direct benefit of Ecuadorian citizens, with a focus on the rights of women and girls, particularly those who have been victims of Gender-Based Violence (GBV); and (2) achieved greater transparency in the operation, information and decision-making of the actors of the Ecuadorian justice system, including citizen participation with a gender perspective and intersectionality.
