The expected outcomes of this project include: (1) prevented spreading violent extremism and related instability in Coastal West Africa; (2) improved access to early warning information for residents of the project areas, particularly for women, youth, and marginalized groups; (3) increased capacity of stakeholders, including women, youth, and marginalized groups, to prevent and mitigate violence and violent extremism in the project areas; and (3) enhanced community capacity, including among women, youth, and marginalized groups. This helped them to identify and address security threats, including enhanced situational awareness and timely decision-making to avoid danger during active crises.
Belated reporting.
The Peace and Stabilization Operations Program (PSOPs) is an integral component of the Government of Canada’s toolbox to prevent and respond to conflicts and crises abroad. It supports rapid, effective, whole-of-government coordinated responses to a wide range of challenges and serves as a valuable instrument for supporting stability in conflict-affected regions. PSOPs provides visible and concrete assistance in response to conflicts and crises abroad through targeted programming, the deployment of Canadian police officers (in partnership with Public Safety Canada and the RCMP) and civilian personnel, and direct support to the UN and multilateral peace operations, conflict prevention, mediation, and peacebuilding efforts.
