This project aims to empower adolescent girls and young women in the Piura and Loreto regions of Peru to take control of their sexual and reproductive health, as well as support the achievement of their economic autonomy. Project activities include: (1) developing and implementing comprehensive sexual and reproductive health and rights, economic rights and gender-based violence prevention training for in-school adolescents; (2) providing capacity building support for health services provider personnel on the delivery of culturally, gender- and age-responsive and inclusive services; and (3) providing technical assistance to municipal and regional public sector institutions to operationalize public policies that support adolescents’ and young people’s health and economic autonomy.

The expected outcomes of this project include: (1) enhanced agency of adolescent girls and young women to make autonomous and informed decisions regarding their sexual and reproductive health and rights, and economic opportunities; (2) improved delivery of culturally, gender and age-responsive sexual and reproductive health and economic development services; and (3) increased responsiveness of government actors to support adolescent girls’ and young women’s sexual and reproductive health rights and economic autonomy.
