Description:
This project seeks to reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions from electricity generation and transportation. It supports Indonesia and the Philippines in meeting their climate goals, including their Nationally determined contributions and 2050 Net zero commitments. The project aims to support policies and plans that reduce emissions by electrifying transport, while developing strategies to ensure the power system can absorb the impacts of transport electrification without negatively affecting the financial integrity of utilities or the sustainability of power generation.

Expected Results:

The expected outcomes of this project include: (1) enhanced implementation of GHG reduction power and transport policies that include a gender-responsive just transition; (2) improved sub-national policies and investment plans for socially inclusive power and transport decarbonization; and (3) increased national and sub-national stakeholder support for major reforms in the power and transport sectors, including with respect to their impacts on just transition, gender equality and social equity.
