Description:
Habitat for Humanity Canada in collaboration with Fiji Women's Rights Movement will facilitate a 2-day Women’s Housing Forum in Fiji. The Pacific Women in Housing Forum will bring together women, people who identify as women, women with disabilities, young women, Indigenous and two-spirit women, and male gender champions from across the Pacific including Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Fiji, Toga, Samoa, and Vanuatu to learn about climate resilient and affordable housing and document the barriers and opportunities to women accessing safe and climate-resilient, affordable housing. Four participants from each of the participating countries will be invited to attend the Women’s Forum and the subsequent Pacific Regional Housing Forum. The anticipated impact is that women, including Indigenous women, in Canada and the Pacific have an increased understanding of climate-resilient housing practices to better secure and support their homes, as well as the policy environment and key asks for their governments, such as

Expected Results:

This project aims to achieve the following results:

(1)RCE Intermediate Outcome 1100 Increased meaningful engagement of Canadian organizations with their Indo-Pacific counterparts in conferences, workshops, round table discussions, and panels, in and/or on the Indo-Pacific region through direct engagement in two forums of at least 30 participants from housing, climate and gender sectors from across Canada and the Pacific’s who will be connected through their participation;

(2)RCE Immediate Outcome 1110 Increased access for Canadian organizations to participate in events which promote knowledge sharing with their counterparts in the Indo-Pacific region through new and strengthened relationships between participants from Habitat offices, Indigenous partners and peers who attended the Forums;

(3)RCE Immediate Outcome 1120 Increased capacity of Canadian organizations to facilitate knowledge-sharing events with their counterparts in the Indo-Pacific region through facilitating the first-ever Women’s Forum resu
