Description:
This project aims to address the livelihood challenges of Rohingya refugees in Bangladesh by building their transferable vocational skills. Project activities include: (1) training 3,300 Rohingya refugees (40% women, 2% people with disabilities) to develop market-driven skills in key vocational areas. These areas include caregiving, cement and concrete works, electrical services, machine mechanics, and agriculture; (2) facilitating and increasing access to basic vocational training, focusing on accelerated adult learning, English language training, numeracy, and life skills. This supports labour mobility pathways in the case that beneficiaries move to a third country; and (3) working to increase access to sustainable, resilient and in-demand livelihood opportunities (wage and self-employment) in Cox’s Bazar camps and on Bhasan Char Island camps. This project aims to directly benefits 11,000 Rohingya refugees.

Expected Results:

The expected outcomes of this project include: (1) improved gender-responsive transferable skills to connect beneficiaries with the labour market in the camps. This also prepares beneficiaries for voluntary return to their country of origin or resettlement in a third country; and (2) improved access to resilient and market-driven livelihood opportunities to use technical skills and enhance the livelihoods and self-reliance of the Rohingya.
