Description:
The International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement relies on national societies such as the Canadian Red Cross to maintain personnel resources available for additional capacity and surge support to its humanitarian response operations worldwide. Canada maintains a robust humanitarian toolkit that enables rapid responses to crisis including through supporting the deployment of humanitarian experts. With GAC’s support, the Canadian Red Cross is deploying technical personnel to respond to humanitarian emergency operations of the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement. Project activities include: (1) supporting the deployment of humanitarian experts; and (2) providing pre- and post- deployment services and training.

Expected Results:

The expected outcomes of this project include: enhanced delivery of gender-sensitive humanitarian assistance by technical experts in humanitarian operations.

The expected ultimate outcome is to save lives, alleviate suffering and maintained human dignity in countries experiencing humanitarian crises or acute food insecurity.
