Grants and Contributions:
Canada’s annual assessed contribution is a legally binding obligation of membership and a non-discretionary expenditure.
Belated reporting.
The purpose of Canada’s membership in IICA is to participate in the work of the Institute in the areas of trade development, food safety and sustainable production, to use IICA as a forum to promote Canadian expertise and Canadian agri-business, and to improve and build new linkages for Canada with Latin America and the Caribbean. Canada’s membership in IICA provides an opportunity to strengthen institutional, science and technical exchanges between Canada and IICA member countries with respect to agricultural health and food safety issues; to strengthen Canada’s influence to facilitate regional trade and promote hemispheric cooperation; and to support sustainable rural development in the hemisphere through improved access to information, analysis and advice in support of Canada’s rural development priorities.
