Description:
This project aims to provide professional services, expert-level support and technical and scientific advice and analysis to member States of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) and the ASEAN Secretariat (ASEC) for the Mitigation of Biological Threats in the ASEAN Region (MBT) Program, as well as more limited support to African partners in support of the Signature Initiative to Mitigate Biological Threats in Africa (SIMBA).

Expected Results:
The expected results of this project include: (1) strengthened knowledge and awareness amongst ASEAN and African partner organizations of biosafety and biosecurity, surveillance systems, health emergency preparedness and response, early and accurate detection, and data analysis and sharing in the ASEAN and African regions; and (2) increased awareness and participation amongst ASEAN member States and African States of the Global Partnership, the Biological and Toxin Weapons Convention (BTWC) and the Signature Initiative to Mitigate Biological Threats in Africa.
