Program Purpose:

On January 8, 2020, 176 people perished when Iranian military surface-to-air missiles shot down Flight PS752; 55 Canadians and 30 permanent residents were among the victims.

Given the significant number of academics and students among the victims, the Government of Canada determined that the establishment of a scholarship program was an appropriate initiative to recognize the contribution of the victims to post-secondary institutions in Canada and to pay tribute to their pursuit of academic excellence.
