Description:
November 28- Cyclone Ditwah made landfall in Sri Lanka, resulting in widespread flooding, landslides, and significant infrastructure damage across all 25 districts. Approximately 2.2 million people have been affected, with 635 confirmed fatalities and 370 individuals reported missing. With Global Affairs Canada’s support, WFP responds effectively to the humanitarian needs caused by Cyclone Ditwah by providing emergency food, nutrition, cash assistance and support to logistical operations. Project activities include: (1) providing food and nutrition assistance; (2) providing cash assistance; and (3) supporting logistical operations.

Expected Results:

The expected outcomes of this project include: (1) improved access to emergency food and nutrition assistance for affected communities; and (2) increased logistical services supporting cyclone relief efforts in Sri Lanka.

The expected ultimate outcome is lives saved, suffering alleviated, and human dignity maintained in countries experiencing humanitarian crises or acute food insecurity.
