Description:
This project aims to improve the well being and resilience of families in Suriname by increasing access to high quality, professional family counselling services. By training a cohort of counsellors in evidence based methods, the project helps ensure that families experiencing stress, conflict, or psychological challenges receive timely, effective support. Project activities include: (1) developing and validating a comprehensive, evidence based training curriculum and practical case studies for family counselling; (2) delivering training to 20 participants through interactive lectures, hands on practice, supervision sessions, and continuous feedback; and (3) establishing and supporting a local professional network of trained counsellors to facilitate collaboration, referrals, and ongoing knowledge exchange.

Expected Results:
The expected outcomes of this project include: (1) enhanced availability and quality of family counselling services in Suriname; (2) improved capacity among participating counsellors to apply evidence-based counselling techniques in their work with families; and (3) strengthened professional collaboration among trained counsellors through an active local network.
