Description:
This project aims to support inclusive and sustainable economic growth in rural coffee-producing communities by strengthening the livelihoods of small-scale coffee producers, particularly women, youth, and other under-represented groups. The project seeks to enhance the economic, social, and climate resilience of coffee-growing communities by promoting equitable participation in coffee value chains and strengthening local capacities. The project supports coffee producer organizations and community-based actors in several partner countries to improve sustainable coffee production, post-harvest quality, market access, and local value creation. It places strong emphasis on integrating gender equality, social inclusion, and environmental sustainability into agricultural, organizational, and commercial practices related to coffee. Project activities include: 1) strengthening the technical and organizational capacities of coffee producers, including the adoption of sustainable and climate-resilient agricultural practices; 2) supporting the leadership of women and youth and their participation in decision-making bodies within producer organizations; 3) improving access to markets, including specialty and fair-trade markets, through partnerships with buyers and targeted marketing initiatives; and 4) promoting inclusive, transparent, and gender-responsive governance practices within partner organizations.
