Description:
This Project aims to strengthen the institutional capacity of law enforcement agencies and improve border infrastructure through the provision of equipment and specialized trainings on countering violent extremism and organized crime, while institutionalizing standardized border management curriculum and SOPs in Kenya, Somalia, and Ethiopia. The Project will enhance regional coordination through trainings, joint workshops, and operational mechanisms such as Integrated/Coordinated Border Management Committees, Joint Operations Centres, and cross-border taskforces. The Project will also reinforce community engagement and policing (CEP) and strengthen early warning mechanisms in border communities by developing standardized CEP training curriculum, monitoring frameworks, and community forums.

Expected Results:

The Expected outcomes for this project include: (1) Enhanced application of cross-border and regional cooperation mechanisms by the Government of Ethiopia, Kenya, and Somalia to prevent and disrupt international crime and violent extremist activities; (2) Strengthened border management practices and legal
movement along borders through enhanced infrastructure, modernized technology, and institutional capacity; (3) Improved resilience and engagement of cross-border communities in countering international crime and violent extremism in line with international norms and standards.
