Description:
The project aims to strengthen the protection of human rights by equipping human rights defenders with the tools and support needed to engage more effectively with governments and other duty-bearers. It will provide human rights training and foster coordinated, multi-sectoral collaboration at community, national, regional, and international levels, with a focus on East Africa, West Africa, the Middle East and North Africa, and the Indo-Pacific. Through Equitas’ global network and training programs, the initiative will enhance information-sharing, support innovative approaches, and convene regional and international learning events to promote best practices and advance inclusive, rights-based governance.

Expected Results:
The expected results of this project include: 1) Increased leadership among human rights defenders—particularly women, youth, and LGBTQI+ individuals—who are trained to advocate for human rights and gender equality in the targeted regions (East Africa, West Africa, North Africa, the Middle East, and the Indo-Pacific region); 2) Strengthened multi-sectoral collaborations, including of women’s, youth, and LGBTQI+ organizations at the national, regional, and international levels, to protect human rights and promote gender equality.
