Description:
This project aims to increase the effectiveness, inclusiveness, and sustainability of financing in the border regions of the West African Economic and Monetary Union (WAEMU). In response to the complex challenges facing these areas—marked by socioeconomic, security, and environmental vulnerabilities. The project aims to provide donors and regional institutions with strategic analytical tools to guide more coherent interventions that are sensitive to local dynamics. Project activities include: 1) developing an analytical report detailing the main challenges, needs, and vulnerabilities in the WAEMU border areas, based on disaggregated data, including gender-specific and climate data; 2) developing a synthesis document identifying lessons learned and good practices from previous projects, intended for donors and regional integration organizations; 3) providing a strategic note with concrete recommendations to support the design of future interventions that are better aligned with realities on the ground.

Expected Results:
The expected outcomes of this project include: 1) access for stakeholders (Canada, WAEMU, other donors) to a shared database on local dynamics, including gender-specific and climate-related information, to inform the direction of their development intervention strategies, particularly in the areas of gender equality and climate change.
