This project aims to implement three activities to enhance nuclear security: (1) convene at least six technical and consultancy meetings of the International Atomic Energy Agency’s Nuclear Harmonization and Standardization Initiative Working Group that will produce guidance and tools that Member States can use to inform their national decisions to adopt and deploy small modular reactors; (2) convene the 4th International Conference on the Safe and Secure Transport of Nuclear and Radioactive Material; and (3) convene the 3rd International Conference on Computer Security in the Nuclear World.

Expected Results:

The expected results of this project include: (1) strengthened capacity of beneficiary countries to incorporate nuclear security into national decisions about the deployment of small modular reactors; (2) increased awareness by beneficiaries of frameworks, innovative technologies, and international cooperation opportunities to strengthen nuclear security for radioactive materials in transport; and (3) increased awareness by beneficiaries of security measures, best practices, and international cooperation opportunities to identify, investigate and respond to cybersecurity threats to nuclear facilities.
