Program Purpose:

P015889001: The purpose of Canada’s membership in the OECD is to further the Government of Canada’s development, analysis, and understanding of economic, social, and development policies. It provides an opportunity for members to discuss and share national experiences, identify best practices, and find solutions to common problems, through peer review, advancing soft law, undertaking public policy research, and gathering and analysing comparable statistical data. To this end, Canada pays assessed annual dues, a “membership fee”, by way of a contribution. | P015889002: The objective of Canada’s participation in CERI is to further both provincial/territorial and federal government’s development, analysis and understanding of activities, policies, and innovations in the area of education and learning. It provides an opportunity for Canada to participate in cutting-edge international research on education and in international networks in various fields of educational research which have endured beyond the length of CERI projects. Canada’s membership allows access to and participation in CERI’s internationally comparative research projects which engage world class researchers, and which often cannot be undertaken by individual governments. | P015889003: The purpose of Canada’s membership in the IEA is to further the Government of Canada’s international energy and foreign policy goals related to global energy security and provide it with a voice in the international community. In the IEA, Canada can access key players in an important international forum to discuss energy supply, demand, and security related issues. To this end, Canada pays IEA-assessed annual dues, a “membership fee”, by way of a contribution.
