International Fact Finding Commission
Program Purpose:
The purpose of Canada’s membership in the Commission is to further the Government of Canada’s foreign policy goals in the area of civilian protection. By recognising the competence of the Commission, Canada contributes to the implementation of international humanitarian law and consequently to the protection of victims of armed conflicts. To this end, Canada pays Commission-assessed annual dues that enable the Commission to conduct outreach activities, address issues related to the implementation of the Convention, and to prepare it for carrying out investigations.
