Description:
This grant represents Canada’s institutional support to Gavi, the Vaccine Alliance. Gavi uses these funds, along with other donors’ funding, to achieve its mandate. Gavi’s long-term mission is saving lives and protecting people’s health by increasing equitable and sustainable vaccine use. This project supports Gavi's four strategic goals for the 2026-2030 period. Project activities include: introducing and scaling up vaccines against infectious disease, including human papillomavirus and malaria, through procurement and delivery support; (2) supporting and strengthening health systems to increase immunization equity, including dedicated support to extend immunization services to under-immunized and zero-dose children; (3) improving the sustainability of national immunizations programs; and (4) ensuring healthy markets for vaccines and related products.

Expected Results:

The expected outcomes for this project include: 1) 500 million additional children immunized, including 50 million against malaria; 2) 8 to 9 million additional lives saved; and 3) US$ 100 billion in economic benefits produced.
