Agreement Value:
$4,000,000.00
Agreement Date:
Jun 11, 2026 - Dec 31, 2026
Description:
The escalation of hostilities between Hezbollah and Israel in early March 2026 is deepening the existing humanitarian and socio-economic crisis, with the health system particularly impacted. In response, the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) revised its Emergency Appeal to reach up to 1.2 million people with critical services, including emergency medical care, food, shelter, and clean water, until December 2027. With $4 million in Global Affairs Canada’s support, the Canadian Red Cross is supporting the efforts of the Lebanese Red Cross to deliver life-saving humanitarian assistance as outlined in the revised IFRC Emergency Appeal for Lebanon. Project activities include: (1) delivering emergency medical services, including ambulance services, medical evacuations, and trauma stabilisation; (2) operating hospitals, field hospitals, medical points, clinics, and mobile medical units; (3) providing mental health and psychosocial support services; and (4) distributing emergency relief supplies, including food, water, hygiene items, and shelter assistance.
Organization:
Global Affairs Canada
Expected Results:

The expected outcomes of this project include: (1) improved access to emergency medical and trauma care services for conflict-affected populations in Lebanon; (2) increased access to essential health, relief, shelter, and water, sanitation and hygiene services for displaced and vulnerable households; and (3) strengthened humanitarian supply chains enabling the timely delivery of life-saving assistance. The expected ultimate outcome is lives saved, suffering alleviated, and human dignity maintained in countries experiencing humanitarian crises or acute food insecurity.
