Description:
The project will address the absence of robust, actionable, open-source information on the DPRK's efforts to evade UN sanctions on its proliferation activities by developing and maintaining RUSI's SANDSTONE database of entities and information involved in DPRK illicit shipping networks, as well as develop RUSI analytical capabilities to provide proactive and reactive investigations of DPRK illicit shipping and "rapid response" reports on urgent cases.

Expected Results:

• Increase in the quantity and quality of information related to illicit DPRK maritime sanction evasion activities.
• Development of a 24-hour rapid response capability by RUSI to produce reports to respond to any emerging cases of illicit DPRK maritime sanction evasion activities.
• Production of monthly reports by RUSI on proactive investigations of illicit DPRK maritime sanction evasion activities.
• Provision of reports on investigations to Canada, its allies and the UN Panel of Experts for follow up action.
