Description:
The project aims to advance gender equality and the human rights of women and girls by strengthening Mongolia’s capacity to respond to gender-based violence (GBV). It is designed to support survivors of gender-based violence, as well as justice sector actors and civil society organizations involved in responding to GBV in Mongolia. Activities include: (1) evaluating the justice sector response to GBV through in-depth victim interviews and case studies; (2) conducting training for police and prosecutors in areas like investigation and interviewing survivors in GBV cases; (3) training Mongolian civil society organizations on trial observation techniques; (4) establishing a nation-wide referral network to allow service providers to respond quickly and efficiently to GBV victims; and (5) delivering workshops to women and girls on their legal rights, remedies and support systems.

Expected Results:

The expected outcomes for this project include: (1) increasing the effectiveness of the Mongolian justice sector response to gender-based violence (GBV); (2) improving access to justice for GBV survivors; and (3) enhancing the prevention of GBV towards women and girls.
