Description:
This grant represents Canada’s long-term institutional support to the International Trade Centre (ITC). The ITC uses these funds, along with other donors’ funding, to achieve its mandate. The ITC is the technical co-operation agency of the World Trade Organization (WTO) and United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD). It acts as the focal point within the United Nations system for trade-related capacity building.

Ultimately, the ITC aims to increase the international competitiveness of micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs).
To achieve this, it seeks to reach four intermediate outcomes: 1) policymakers integrate business interests; 2) trade and investment service institutions better support MSMEs; 3) MSMEs introduce changes in their operations; and 4) market partners open up value chains.
