Description:
P007370001: Working through the Government of Jordan (GoJ), this project builds the resilience of vulnerable women, including refugees, through three complementary pillars. Project activities include: (1) providing livelihoods opportunities such as cash-for-work that graduates into sustainable employment opportunities, including job placements, entrepreneurship opportunities, or work permit applications; (2) providing education opportunities based on labour market needs, including leadership and civic engagement skills development; and (3) contributing to gender-based violence prevention, protection and awareness-raising services. The 22 Oasis Centres across Jordan, which have evolved into multi-sectoral service delivery, support vulnerable women in camps and host communities. They focus on resilience and empowerment for women and girls while also engaging men and boys in dialogue and mobilization for gender and social equality. P007370002: The overall goal of this initiative is to strengthen the Government of Jordan's systems to mainstream gender in its policies and programs to better respond to the needs of women refugees and vulnerable Jordanian women and empower them to become more resilient. This would be done through gender mainstreaming in national planning and programs, as well as in local planning and decision-making processes. This initiative would also support the Ministry of Social Development for the implementation of its recently approved strategy, and set up programs for women's economic empowerment, resilience, protection, and leadership, using the UN Women-created Oasis Centre model. The Oasis model also directly addresses key barriers and enabling factors that affect women’s engagement in livelihoods opportunities.
