Description:
December 2020 - During conflicts, natural disasters and other complex emergencies, sexual and reproductive health (SRH) needs must not be overlooked. It is essential to ensure that life-saving interventions related to SRH services, and protection from and response to sexual and gender-based violence are provided. With GAC’s support, the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) is contributing to meeting the SRH needs of vulnerable populations, particularly women and girls. Project activities include: (1) providing emergency obstetric, SRH services; (2) preventing, mitigating and responding to gender-based violence, including psychosocial support; and (3) strengthening humanitarian operations and capacity, including boosting supply chain and logistics management.

Expected Results:

The expected outcomes for this project include: (1) improved sexual and reproductive health of
vulnerable populations; and (2) increased protection from gender-based violence.

The expected ultimate outcome is lives saved, suffering alleviated, and human dignity maintained in countries experiencing humanitarian crises or that are food insecure.
