Description:
This project seeks to improve gender and ethnic inclusivity throughout the peace process in Israel and the West Bank. The project aims to mobilize, educate and empower Arab women in Israel and the West Bank. They are under-represented key agents of change in promoting a sustainable and inclusive resolution to the conflict. Project activities include: (1) providing workshops on conflict and gender dynamics; (2) offering seminars on advocacy, communications and negotiations; (3) promoting dialogue meetings; and (4) facilitating advocacy meetings.

Expected Results:

The expected outcomes for this project include: (1) increased advocacy among Israeli-Arab and Palestinian women and men. This favours women’s direct participation in the peace-building processes in Israel and the West Bank; and (2) increased levels of decision-making by Israeli-Arab, Palestinian and Jewish-Israeli women in a negotiated two-state solution to the conflict.

Program Purpose:

The Peace and Stabilization Operations Program (PSOPs) is an integral component of the Government of Canada’s toolbox to prevent and respond to conflicts and crises abroad. It supports rapid, effective, whole-of-government coordinated responses to a wide range of challenges and serves as a valuable instrument for supporting stability in conflict-affected regions. PSOPs provides visible and concrete assistance in response to conflicts and crises abroad through targeted programming, the deployment of Canadian police officers (in partnership with Public Safety Canada and the RCMP) and civilian personnel, and direct support to the UN and multilateral peace operations, conflict prevention, mediation, and peacebuilding efforts.
