The United Nations Multi-Partner Trust Fund for Colombia (MPTF) was launched in 2016 to support the implementation of the Peace Accord between the Government of Colombia and the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia . civil society, multilateral organizations, and government authorities delivers projects funded by the MPTF. Canadian funding aims to support the following MPTF thematic programming priorities: (1) stabilization: strengthening state presence and capacity in municipalities most impacted by the conflict to bring the state to areas where it has been historically absent, reduce inequalities, and strengthen security; (2) victims and transitional justice: supporting the authorities in providing collective reparation for victims by increasing knowledge and capacities to address the differential impacts that the conflict has had on victims due to gender, age, and ethnicity; and (3) communications: communicating effectively continually on the advances made in implementing the agreement to counter

Expected Results:

The expected outcomes for this project include: (1) increased government presence and capacity to strengthen security and reduce inequities in conflict-affected regions of Colombia; (2) enhanced capacity of Colombia’s Transitional Justice mechanism to provide collective reparations to victims by taking into account the differential impacts of the conflict on different victim groups, as differentiated by ethnicity, gender, and age; (3) increased confidence of local communities and individuals most impacted by the conflict that further peace implementation will improve security and living conditions; (4) enhanced capacity of the government to undertake strategic communications for the continued implementation of the Peace Accords in prioritized regions; and (5) enhanced abilities of the state to advance negotiations with the National Liberation Army (ELN, for its acronym in Spanish) and dialogues with other armed groups controlling Colombian territory, in an inclusive manner that responds to the varied context
