Description:
This project aims to improve the health and lives of women, adolescents, and girls by supporting the generation of peer reviewed and evidence-based research on sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR). Project activities include: (1) strengthening the capacity of local research partners to generate quality evidence on safe abortion care, specifically in Rwanda, Ethiopia, and Bangladesh; (2) generating objective and peer-reviewed evidence on the social and economic impacts of providing access to safe abortion; and (3) generating objective and peer-reviewed evidence on how stakeholders in Sub-Saharan African countries are responding to the roll-back of woman's rights to access safe and legal abortion in other countries.

Expected Results:

The expected outcomes from this project include: (1) greater inclusion of safe abortion care in SRHR advocacy to government and other policy stakeholders by women’s rights organisations in Ethiopia, Rwanda and Bangladesh; and (2) strengthened protection of women and girls’ reproductive rights to safe and legal abortion services by national governments, regional and global agencies and other key stakeholders.
