Description:
This project aims to strengthen the universalization and national implementation of the Arms Trade Treaty (ATT) by supporting the ATT Secretariat’s Sponsorship Programme and the Voluntary Trust Fund (VTF). Project activities include: (1) enabling the participation of eligible States in Conferences of States Parties to the Arms Trade Treaty and in informal preparatory meetings to facilitate the Conference deliberations and outcomes; and (2) contributing to the ATT Voluntary Trust Fund (VTF) to support requesting States with legal/legislative assistance, institutional capacity development, and technical/material support to implement the Treaty.

Expected Results:

The expected outcomes of this project include: (1) strengthened capacity of the ATT Secretariat to deliver Sponsorship Programme and Voluntary Trust Fund assistance to eligible beneficiary States; and (2) increased knowledge and awareness among States Parties (and countries intending to accede) of the requirements, gaps and challenges faced in acceding to and implementing the ATT.
