Agreement Date:
May 4, 2026 - Dec 31, 2026
Description:
April 2026 – Cuba is experiencing a longstanding economic crisis which is being exacerbated by external fuel restrictions. At the same time, it is still recovering from the effects of Hurricane Melissa, which made landfall in October 2025. Currently, fuel shortages are hampering the delivery of essential goods and services and constraining the humanitarian response for vulnerable populations. As a result, there is an increase in humanitarian needs. With Global Affairs Canada’s support, World Food Programme provides emergency food assistance to the most vulnerable people and logistics services to support the overall humanitarian response. Project activities include: (1) providing immediate food assistance; and (2) supporting logistics operations, including supply chain services and access to fuel.
