Description:
This project will offer culturally-based healing experiences in collaboration with another organization, Greene Stone Centre for Recovery. Twice per year, Indigenous people affected by sexual misconduct in the Defence community will have the opportunity to participate in a retreat and take part in a land-based healing ceremony, talking circles, a sweat lodge, and cedar baths with an Elder and a spiritual advisor on site. This partnership will enable Indigenous military personnel and Veterans to have access to continued virtual programming, providing a more encompassing support service.

An increase in projects, initiatives and services reaching the local Defence community through innovative service delivery; Greater access to information, training and support within the Defence community; An increase in effective mechanisms at the SMSRC to strengthen community-based supports for those impacted by sexual misconduct in the CAF/DND, especially underserved groups; Improved support across the justice and social sectors* for those impacted by or at risk of gender-based violence, including survivors; Further integration of community-based service providers within the CAF/DND network of support services for those affected by sexual misconduct in the CAF/DND.
