Description:
Funding will support research and development to identify solutions to National Defence’s Challenge: Lighting the path with AI: Advanced analytics and decision support for first responders. Defence Research and Development Canada (DRDC) in collaboration with Canada’s safety & security communities are seeking to advance the application of promising advanced decision support technologies including, but not limited to, artificial intelligence and machine learning (AI/ML), intelligent sensors, wearable technologies, Internet of Things (IoT) connectivity technologies (e.g. 5G, Long Range (LoRa)), and synthetic environments technologies (e.g. Virtual Reality (VR), Augment Reality (AR), Extended Reality (XR), Mixed Reality (MR)) in the safety and security domain.

The Department of National Defence solicited proposals to support the creation of small Innovation Networks, called micro-nets, to stimulate collaboration and innovation. The expected results are the development of a critical mass of researchers, highly qualified personnel, and expertise within the Canadian innovation community dedicated to advance research applicable to the safety and security of Canada.
