Grants and Contributions:
Through cultural sharing, education, and dialogue, it is expected to promote reconciliation by increasing
awareness of Inuit history, culture, and contributions, including those of Inuit veterans and serving Canadian Armed Forces
members. The initiative aligns with the Truth and Reconciliation Commission's Call to Action #57 on educating public servants about Indigenous peoples. The event will also contribute to the building and maintaining established relations between Department of National Defense and the Canadian Armed Forces, Canadian Forces Base Winnipeg, 17 Wing Winnipeg, and Manitoba Inuit Association and the broader Inuit community through mutual learning and cross education.
The purpose of the Indigenous Reconciliation Program is to support the alignment of the Department of National Defence and CAF operations and engagement with the UN Declaration and to support consultation and cooperation with Indigenous peoples (First Nations, the Métis Nation, and Inuit).
