The expected outcomes of the Sectoral Initiatives Program are: .• Increased awareness of sectoral labour market information, national occupational standards, and certification/accreditation regimes among partners, stakeholders, employers and job seekers; .• Improved capacity of partners, stakeholders, employers and job seekers through the creation of relevant LMI, national occupation standards, and certification and accreditation regimes; .• Improved dissemination, transfer and application of knowledge and information among partners, stakeholders, employers and job seekers;.• Enhanced use of sectoral labour market information, national occupational standards, and certification/accreditation regimes in response to expected labour market needs; .• Enhanced integration of sectoral labour market information, national occupational standards, and certification/accreditation regimes into programming, services and policies; and .• Increased matching of skilled labour. .
The purpose of the Sectoral Initiatives Program (SIP) is to support the development and effective application of labour market information, national occupational standards, and certification and accreditation regimes to minimize skills shortages and mismatches within and across sectors in Canada.
