Description:
The objectives of ELCC are to improve programs and services for all Canadian children and their families by developing innovative approaches and sharing best practices that enhance the quality, accessibility, affordability, flexibility and inclusivity of ELCC programs and services across Canada.
This is accomplished through work with PTs in establishing a Canada-wide ELCC system, as well as supporting national and international projects and initiatives to help address ELCC data and research.

Expected Results:
The Expected Results of the ELCC Program are:
• Increased quality, accessibility, affordability, flexibility and inclusivity in ELCC, with consideration for families more in need; make progress towards establishing a Canada-wide ELCC system; and support economic growth and women's participation in the workforce.
• More communities and child care organizations are able to undertake innovative projects that better support their ELCC needs; increased visibility and sharing of innovative ELCC practices; and best practices and lessons learned in innovation in the field of ELCC are shared with service providers and stakeholders.
• A more comprehensive understanding of ELCC in Canada through the improvement and dissemination of national and international data, an improved evidence base to inform policy and decision-making, and the development of sound research and best practices on existing and emerging issues related to ELCC.
