Program Purpose:

Canadian Apprenticeship Strategy provides funding to encourage Canadians to explore, prepare for, participate and succeed in apprenticeship and careers in the skilled trades. It also aims to encourage the development of innovative approaches to improve apprenticeship outcomes, including improving the participation and success of equity-deserving groups, and enhancing employer engagement of apprentices.

The General Apprenticeship Supports’ objective is to encourage and support pre-apprentices (i.e. non registered apprentices) and apprentices, particularly equity-deserving groups, to explore, prepare for, participate and succeed in apprenticeship and skilled trades careers. It also aims to enhance partnerships between unions, employers and other organizations; improve the quality of training; and address long-standing challenges that limit apprenticeship outcomes through a variety of activities.
