Grants and Contributions:
Each individual project funded by the SDG Funding Program will have its own expected outcomes. The overall expected outcomes of the Program as a whole include: ..1. Increased public awareness of SDGs: Through the funding of engagement activities, Canadians’ awareness of the 2030 Agenda will be broadened. ..2. New partnerships and networks: The development of partnerships and networks between organizations will lead to a better understanding of issues, challenges and opportunities, and identify solutions to advance the SDGs in Canada and abroad...3. Improved and more broadly available knowledge of emerging sustainable development issues related to leaving no one behind: Partnerships will help identify gaps in Canada’s efforts to meet the SDGs and improve understanding of the social, economic and environmental needs of under-represented populations who are at risk of being left behind. ..4. Innovative approaches: The SDG Program will support organizations implementing innovative initiatives that seek to drive progress on multiple SDGs. ..5. Contribute to reconciliation with Indigenous peoples: Engagement activities will contribute to the Government of Canada's commitment to a renewed relationship with First Nations, Inuit and Métis by establishing Indigenous peoples as key partners in the achievement of the 2030 Agenda. .
The purpose of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) Funding Program is to support the federal government’s implementation of the 2030 Agenda by strengthening partnerships and engagement with Canadians, including provinces and territories, municipalities, not-for-profit organizations, academia, distinctions-based Indigenous partners, youth and vulnerable or excluded populations. It is an opportunity to work in partnership with organizations to help deliver improved outcomes for Canadians, with the aim of leaving no one behind.
