Description:
The objectives of the Indigenous Engagement Protocol Agreements are to support engagement capacity in key Indigenous organizations who will work with the Department of ESD and First Nations, Inuit, Métis and Urban/Non affiliated Indigenous communities and/or organizations to: • establish joint priorities based on research and analysis; • inform the Department of ESD program and policy design, development and implementation, better aligning them with community needs; and • maintain a mutually beneficial relationship with the Department of ESD to advance Reconciliation.

Expected Results:
The expected outcomes of Indigenous Engagement Protocol Agreements are: • Relationships between First Nations, Inuit, Métis and Urban/Non affiliated Indigenous groups and the Department of ESD are strengthened; • Indigenous organizations and stakeholders, their supporting members and elected officials are increasingly equipped to inform the Department of ESD’s policy design, development and implementation; • the Department of ESD’s policy design, development and implementation are informed by and align with the needs of First Nations, Inuit, Métis, and Urban/Non affiliated Indigenous peoples, their governments, communities and organizations; and • Indigenous organizations and stakeholders, and their supporting members are increasingly supportive of the Department of ESD policy directions.
