Description:
The objective of the WIL Initiatives is to drive systemic change in the skills development system at the PSE level, to effectively align technical, foundational and “work-ready” skills of PSE students with the skills required by Canadian employers – demonstrated by an increase in incremental and sustainable WIL opportunities in sectors targeted by the program; and the continuation of collaborative and innovative partnerships.

Expected Results:
This project will provide an increase in wage subsidies to employers offering paid work integrated learning (WIL) placements and supporting the creation of new WIL opportunities in high demand sectors. This project will enable placements to continue to be available for PSE students across Canada to help them overcome challenges brought on by COVID-19 and support their future success.

Student Work Placement Program (SWPP)
Program Purpose:
The Student Work Placement Program provides post-secondary students across Canada paid work experience related to their field of study. Through Work Integrated Learning (WIL) Initiatives this program fosters work with businesses and post-secondary education (PSE) institutions to:
• provide wage subsidies to employers that offer quality student work placements; and
• create partnerships with colleges, universities, polytechnics and CEGEPs to recruit students for these placements.
