This project will reinforce Ford's R&D and manufacturing presence in Canada as well as create and maintain roughly 800 full-time positions. The establishment of the global Connectivity Innovation Centre will create new engineering positions, alongside a large R&D program that secures continuing automotive innovation ensure Ford's continued manufacturing presence in Canada.
The Amendment has been completed to extend the project agreement end date from 2028-06-07 to 2030-06-07. This is a non-repayable contribution.
Aims to support strategic, large-scale research and development (R&D) projects in the automotive sector in developing innovative, greener and more fuel-efficient vehicles to:-build automotive R&D capacity in Canada and secure knowledge-based jobs;-enhance the government's science and technology and environmental agendas;-support the development and/or implementation of innovative, fuel efficient technologies or processes;-promote long-term economic benefit to Canada including significant job creation/retention; and-serve as catalyst for further private sector investments to foster Canadian competitiveness.
