Grants and Contributions:
As a result of the project, the technology to be developed and industrialized would help strengthen the already well-integrated Canada-United States aluminum and manufacturing industry, reduce Canada's carbon footprint by seven million tonnes of carbon emissions per year, and help Canada reach its commitments under the Paris Agreement. This project will create 100 new full-time positions.
The Amendment has been completed to extend the project agreement end date from 2044-03-01 to 2045-12-31, and increase the contribution amount from $60M to $80M. This is a repayable contribution.
-Encourage R&D that will accelerate technology transfer and commercialization of innovative products, processes and services;-Facilitate the growth and expansion of firms in Canada;-Attract and retain large scale investments to Canada; and-Advance industrial research, development and technology demonstration through collaboration between academia, non-profit organizations and the private sector.
